Julie Chambers wins Hobson by-election
Auckland City Council Electoral Officer, Dale Ofsoske, has declared Julie Chambers the newly elected member of the Hobson Community Board.
Julie Chambers, the Auckland Citizens & Ratepayers Now candidate, received 7070 votes in the by-election held today.
The unsuccessful candidate was:
Christine Caughey (Team Auckland – City Vision) 5273 votes
Mr Ofsoske says 12 informal votes and 84 blank votes were also received.
The by-election’s three week postal voting period began on 2 April 2003 and voter turn out was 28.4 per cent.
Julie Chambers replaces former board member Judith Dickens who resigned earlier last year.
The Hobson Community Board has six members and is one of 10 community boards in the city.
