Mt Albert Community Library closes for upgrade
The Mt Albert Community Library will be closed from Sunday, 18 May to Sunday, 15 June for completion of a small extension to the library. It will reopen to customers on Monday 16 June.
Temporary closure will ensure safety of customers while the extension is in progress and enable the project to be completed on time.
The purpose of the extension is to increase public space within the library, allowing more space for study and programmes.
The chairperson of Auckland City’s Community Services Committee, Councillor Graeme Mulholland, explained that the extension is a short-term solution to the increased use of Mt Albert Community Library.
“A long-term development plan for Mt Albert library will be prepared based on the outcome of the current review of library services,” said Councillor Mulholland.
During the closure the library's shelving and furniture in the public area will be replaced as part of this upgrade.
The improvements will create a vibrant, welcoming and accessible environment for Mt Albert Community Library customers. Customer parking will also be improved with additional parking spaces.
