Get Creative At Manurewa Community Arts Centre This Autumn
Now that daylight saving has ended and the nights are drawing in, Manukau City Council’s Manurewa Community Arts Centre
(Nathan Homestead) is offering an exciting and creative term two timetable that will help keep the autumn blues at bay.
Do you have half-finished art projects collecting dust in a closet? Then Kay Scott’s Art: Paper and Canvas is for you.
This adult class is designed to focus on individual projects, revive your interest in art and develop your drawing or
painting skills.
The ever popular “This Old House Series” with Sylvia Sandford returns this term. Learn how to make your house a more
interesting inviting environment for family and friends, ensuring your own sense of style and creating that “feel good
factor”.
The very successful Cartoon and Storyboard Art class run by Nooroa Te Hira is now being offered to teens. Nooroa will
introduce them to the creative process of story telling used in comics, film and television.
Two new classes on offer at Manurewa Community Arts Centre (Nathan Homestead) this term are:
Teen Art Plus, this class, that encourages experimentation and development, has been designed by Kay Scott to help
students who are undertaking art projects and offers an inexpensive way for them to try different media.
Decorative Glass Painting - Introduces our new tutor Sumi, who trained in this timeless art in France. In this five-week
course you will work with a range of products and use a variety of techniques including stencilling, stamping, sponging
and painting.”
Popular children’s pottery tutor Annette Macintosh will be taking the Adult Pottery class this term. Annette specialises
in ‘fantasy’ pottery and offers a new range of projects that are both fun and useful.
“From award winning artists, Rosemary Weir floral design and Jennifer Batcheldor cake decorating and design, to our
usual drama, yoga, and photography classes, there is something to suit all levels, ages and personal tastes,” says
