Walkway Of Fame
Nominations are again open for icons of Waitakere to be included in its “Walkway of Fame”.
The Walkway is in Catherine Mall, Henderson.
Each year famous people who were born or who have lived in the city are nominated to have their hand/foot prints etched into granite on the walkway. The concept is similar to the Boulevard of Stars in Hollywood.
Those who have been inducted into the walkway previously are:
Rugby legend Michael Jones Author Maurice Shadbolt Athletics great Roy Williams Maori leader and educationalist Dr Pita Sharples Long time local body politician Assid Corban Musician Neil Finn
This year the City plans to honour two more of its famous citizens and the Council is calling for nominations from the public. Nominations can be made on-line at http:// http://www.waitakere.govt.nz
Nominations close on April 2.
