Ten years ago Waitakere City Council signed up to Agenda 21 at the Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro. A programme of
thinking globally and acting locally to foster sustainable development in partnership with the community. The only city
in New Zealand to do so.
To celebrate where we have come from and where we are going as community and a city, Waitakere City Council in
association with the Corban Estate Arts Centre, Phoenix Foods and BP, are holding Eco-Day on Sunday 9 March 10am-4pm.
Eco-Day will showcase
an exhibition hall offering eco-friendly products, council initiatives, environmental groups displays and a seminar
tent. If you want the clay house, how do you do it and why! International guest speakers such as Bruce Taper, an
environmental scientist and Brendan Hoare, senior lecturer in sustainable design the BP free eco-bus tours, running
continuously through the day, taking in sustainable city highlights from private properties to awardwinning city
initiative. Free car emission testing and alternative vehicle displays
working artists and sculptures, Waitakere Through the Eyes of our Children display, roving performers and all day music
stage
free children rides, play and secret garden
and more.
Mayor Bob Harvey will open the festival day. A day of fun, ecoinfo and positivity.

Tour # 1 10.30 -1.00pm - Northern Tour (Led by Jenny Macdonald & Suresh Nagaiya) Transport = Henderson Hopper (20) Schedule 10.30 leave Corbans 10.40 arrive Refuse Transfer Station.
Drive through 15 minutes 10.55-11.15 travel to 10 Te Aute Ridge. Stay ½ hour 11.45-12.10 travel to Massey Leisure Centre

Tour # 2 1.30 -4.00pm -Southern Tour (Led by Cathy Kenkel & Suresh Nagaiya) Transport = Henderson Hopper (20) Schedule 1.30pm Leave Corbans 1.35pm arrive Aquatic Centre. Stay ½
hour 2.05-2.25pm travel to New Lynn Community Centre. Stay ½ hour 2.55-3.05pm Drive past Ambrico & the Manawa wetland and stop (or slow down) for 5 minutes 3.05- 3.10pm - Travel to Dorothy Wilson’s house @ 54 Cliff
