New director for Aotea Centre board
Auckland City Council has approved the appointment of Mr Richard Waddel as a member of the Aotea Centre board of management.
The chairperson of the council’s Finance and Corporate Business Committee, Councillor Douglas Armstrong, and the chairperson of the board, Mr David Wolfenden, announced today the appointment of Mr Waddel to the board for a term commencing 1 March 2003 until 30 June 2006.
Mr Waddel has extensive commercial skills, especially in the areas of auditing, taxation, consulting and business advisory services. He also has considerable knowledge of the retailing and hospitality industries and experience as a company director.
Councillor Armstrong says Mr Waddel’s appointment follows both the public advertising of the position and a separate recruitment process. Candidates were interviewed by the council’s Directors Review Panel together with the chairperson of the board.
Mr Wolfenden welcomed the appointment noting in particular Mr Waddel’s ability to motivate people, his strong leadership qualities and commitment to the community.
The Aotea Centre board of management has seven board members and a chairperson.
