$1.5 million investment for additional capacity and safety at St Lukes Road Intersection
In an effort to upgrade the Sandringham Road/Balmoral Road/St Lukes Road intersection, Auckland City Council is investing $1.5 million.
The initiative aims to improve traffic flow capacity and safety at this intersection. It is a key junction along the Green Lane to Western Springs arterial route.
The council has been planning improvements to this intersection since 1995 and work is expected to start in March 2003. The successful construction tenderer, Works Infrastructure Ltd and project consultants, Duffill Watts & King Ltd, have a proven record with the council.
Drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and public transport will benefit from the works. The additional through lane on both the eastern and western approaches and the free left turn slip lanes on the eastern, southern and western approaches will help clear congestion. The street lighting and signalisation will be upgraded.
The improvements are due to be completed by the end of October 2003.
