Albany Burger King Restaurant Robbed
Statement released by Glenn Corbett, General Manager Marketing, Burger King NZ
“We can confirm that at around 2.30 am this morning the Albany Restaurant was robbed. The Restaurant manager and one
crew member had completed closure of the restaurant when they were confronted by three men.
“We understand the Restaurant Manager was forced to open the safe and tied up while the crew member was also tied up and
put in the chiller. The Manager followed security procedures and complied with the robbers’ demands. No other crew or
customers were around at the time. The robbery was discovered when maintenance staff arrived for the early morning
shift.
“We are relieved that no-one was hurt in the robbery and our priority now is to do everything possible for the crew
members affected. Both men are extremely shaken and we are providing them and their families with as much support as
possible during this traumatic time. Burger King Management has been with staff since the incident was discovered.
“Burger King puts all staff through regular training for security procedures in event of incidents like this. While are
confident our people followed the correct procedures during this incident, however we will be reviewing all aspects of
our security procedures to ensure they remain the best they can possibly be.
“We are working closely with Police to assist them in apprehending the robbers. The restaurant will remain closed until
Police have completed their investigations.”
