Official opening for Templeton Community Centre
The new Templeton Community Centre, 64 Kirk Rd will be officially opened by Deputy Mayor Lesley Keast tomorrow, Saturday 15 February.
All media are invited to attend this official function, starting at 1.30pm.
The new $850,000 building includes space for a competition size basketball court, a volleyball court and three badminton courts. A stage, supper room and well equipped kitchen are also part of the facility.
While the building has been primarily funded by the Christchurch City Council, the Templeton Residents’ Association has contributed $370,000 plus the cost of the kitchen appliances.
The Centre has been built by Ahead Buildings and features a barrel roof with exposed timber portals. Landscaping around the outside of the building will start in May
