Auckland City Parking Enterprise Board membership approved
Auckland City Council has approved the inaugural membership of the Auckland City Parking Enterprise Board.
The chairperson of the council’s Finance and Corporate Business Committee, Councillor Douglas Armstrong, announced today
the appointment of Mr John Wells, Mr Warren Gibb and Mr Doug Alexander to the board for a period of two years effective
from 1 February 2003. Auckland City’s Director of Enterprise Services, Mr Bob Wakelin, has also been appointed to the
board.
Mr Wells has considerable experience in investment banking, and is Chairman of Bancorp. He is also Chairman of the Crown
entity, Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC). His other Board appointments include Baycorp Advantage, Marsh, Fisher
Funds Management, and several property investment companies. The council has appointed Mr Wells as chairperson.
Mr Gibb has an economics and accountancy background and is currently on a variety of boards including Giltrap City
Limited, Hyundai Automotive New Zealand Ltd, and Business in the Community Limited. Mr Gibb has a good knowledge of
business law, finance, banking, new business development, acquisitions, divestments and property development.
Mr Alexander has a financial background and is currently the managing director of Waterford Consultants Ltd. Mr
Alexander has governance experience and a sound understanding of both the city’s property and car parking operations.
Councillor Armstrong says the board has been established to provide strategic direction and make operating decisions for
the Auckland City Parking Commercial Enterprise. Auckland City Parking is responsible for the operation of the council’s
5000 off-street car parks.
The council has agreed to review its decision to appoint a board for Auckland City Parking after two years.
