National Rural Fire Danger Warning

Published: Fri 7 Feb 2003 06:19 PM
NATIONAL RURAL FIRE AUTHORITY FIRE DANGER WARNING
The wind forecast for the weekend and the lack of significant rain are predicted to cause widespread extreme fire dangers. Areas that do not get significant rainfall over the next 24-48 hours are more likely to have extreme fire dangers.
Of particular concern is the eastern side of the country. A number of areas have prohibited fire seasons in place.
The numbers of fires over recent days are a good indication of the dryness in our fuels and soil layers and the extent of the elevated fire danger throughout the country.
For further information contact the National Rural Fire Authority duty officer on 021 662 133 for comment.
