Report out on Pipeline Route for Ocean Outfall
A newly-released report into the ocean pipeline for the wastewater outfall has identified two further streets as
potential routes. In addition to Bridge, Beatty, Caspian and Godwit streets, two other South Brighton streets– Jellicoe
and Heron - are also being investigated.
Senior Planning Engineer John Moore emphasised that it’s important for people to understand that at this stage there has
been no conclusion drawn regarding a preferred route.
The report by URS New Zealand Ltd includes an assessment of financial, ecological and social impacts of a pipeline being
laid from the wastewater treatment plant at Bromley through South Brighton and out to sea.
Two open days are due to be held where there will be information and staff on hand to discuss the various pipe routes,
possible construction methods and the ocean outfall in general.
