No interest to date in Mt Roskill Community Board by-election
With less than one week to go, no nominations have been received to fill the vacancy on Auckland City Council’s Mt Roskill Community Board.
Candidates are being sought for one position on the Mt Roskill Community Board, following the resignation of Stephen Rosser late last year.
Nominations close at 12 noon Friday, 10 January 2003. The by-election will be by postal ballot, with the distribution of voting documents from 7 February 2003 and results on polling day, 1 March 2003.
Under the new local government legislation, if no nomination is received for the vacancy, then the community board can decide to either repeat the nomination process or appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy, says Auckland City Council electoral officer Dale Ofsoske.
To be eligible for appointment the person must be on a New Zealand parliamentary roll and a New Zealand citizen.
Nomination forms are available: from the Auckland City Council’s Electoral Office (Independent Election Services Ltd, Ground Floor, Bledisloe House, 24 Wellesley St West, Auckland) by phoning (09) 307 7211 on the Council’s website http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/byelection
