Sharemilker Competition Offers Incentive To Enter
Organisers of the New Zealand Sharemilker of the Year competition are offering an incentive to those who enter early.
Awards Chairman Greg Maughan says the first 200 sharemilkers to enter the 2003 competition, recognising excellence in
sharemilking, will receive a $100 RD1 voucher to spend.
“We’ve been taking expressions of interest since June from those wanting to enter the competition, following the
interest generated from the 2002 contest.
“Now our official entry forms are out and we’re keen to encourage those who have expressed an interest to go ahead and
enter.”
Mr Maughan says the incentive also recognises that there is considerable time and effort involved in entering the
competition.
“This initiative is costing RD1 $20,000, but we know the benefits gained from those that do enter - through learning and
fine-tuning their business and gaining ideas from others - will more than return that amount in increased productivity
on-farm for the industry,” he says.
“Most people who have entered the competition have found that winning is a bonus. By entering sharemilkers gain access
to our judges - who provide considerable feedback that helps them to refine their systems - and the opportunity to meet
and mix with the other competitors.”
The 2003 New Zealand Sharemilker of the Year competition is offering a total prize pool of $61,300.
Entry forms are being distributed with the November issue of Fonterra’s monthly supplier magazine, Farmlink, which is
due out on November 23, and are also available on http://www.fencepost.com < http://www.fencepost.com > and from sponsors.
The New Zealand Sharemilker of the Year is run in association with Federated Farmers and is supported by ACC, Blue Wing
Honda, Bank of New Zealand, Livestock Improvement, Ravensdown, RD1, Dairy InSight, Dexcel, Ecolab and Fonterra.
