Motorway Works between Grafton and Gillies Ave
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists that work will be taking place on the Southern Motorway between the Grafton Road on-ramp (southbound) and Gillies Ave during the nights of Sunday and Monday (3 and 4 November 2002). The works are part of Stage 1 of the Central Motorway Junction project.
The works will involve lane marking and narrowing of the Grafton Road on-ramp onto the Southern Motorway on Sunday night, to provide extra width for future construction activities in this area. Traffic data collection devices will be installed on Monday night in the Gillies Ave area.
Both activities will require temporary lane closures on the Southern Motorway. However some lanes will remain open to traffic. There may be delays to traffic during these works and alternative routes are recommended.
In the event of bad weather, the works will be postponed until Tuesday and Wednesday nights (5 and 6 November).
Transit would like to thank motorists in advance for their cooperation.
Members of the public who would like further information about the project are invited to visit the public information centre at the corner of Stanley St & Alten Rd or phone 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733).
