Stop Aerial Spraying Action-Plan
Stop Aerial Spraying, a community group opposing MAF’s aerial spraying operation against the Painted Apple Moth, have launched two new initiatives generated from their no spray website ( http://www.geocities.com/no_spray).
1. INVOICE MAF
There are many stories describing financial losses suffered by individuals and businesses on and around spray days. Stop Aerial Spraying are encouraging people and businesses to invoice MAF for monies lost. Spokesperson, Sue Berman believes the government has not considered the real cost of the Aerial Spray operation – the cost to the people and businesses being sprayed.
The following page outlines the idea and, for those individuals who require it, a standard invoice can be downloaded from the website – accessed from the home page.
2. PURSUIT OF MONIES FOR LEGAL ACTION
In order to pursue an investigation of legal options, Stop Aerial Spraying are asking people to donate $20 each towards raising an initial $4000 required for legal research. If the case looks viable the legal team have offered to pursue the case at minimal cost to the community. The ground work needs to be done urgently.
Stop Aerial Spraying have put out a message which reads:
DONATE $20 THIS WEEK TO STOP AERIAL SPRAYING
We need funds immediately to pay for legal and scientific research to underpin legal action to stop aerial spraying.
A barrister has started work. There is a huge volume of material for her to consider before advising on the viability and best approach to legal action.
The group Stop Aerial Spraying who coordinate the No Spray website, http://www.geocities.com/no_spray, is coordinating collection of funds to pay for the barrister's work and the scientific research which is also essential to the case.
We need $4,000 immediately. This is easy to raise - if just 200 angry people give $20 each.
Please ask neighbours and co-workers to donate $20 and to get 5 more people to do the same. (Smaller and larger donations are also welcome of course.)
Be a collector - people are busy and mean to send $20 but sometimes don't get around to it. Collect their $20 and send it with your own, this week, to

If the spraying costs you any money INVOICE MAF
If, because of the spraying, you have to take time off work to evacuate the kids, go to the doctor, or to be out of the spray zone; If it costs you money to remove the spray residue off your car’s windscreen or anything else; If you lose work through cancelled or missed appointments; If you have to buy a cover for your vegetables; If you have to replace spray-polluted tank water; If there is any other monetary consequence to your life from the spraying.
INVOICE MAF for the relevant amount and send a copy of the invoice to Stop Aerial Spraying
This will do four things: Show part of the unseen real cost of MAF’s Painted Apple Moth operation; Pressure MAF to find a better (cheaper!) way of operating; Create extra profile for the opposition to the spraying; and If MAF and/or the government has any honour, it will create a basis for compensation of any monetary costs to you as a consequence of the spraying.
INVOICE MAF, send a copy to Stop Aerial Spraying and keep reminding MAF to pay it.
