Children’s Day Celebration in Manukau
Manukau City Council invites all residents to celebrate national Children's Day on 27 October at Hayman Park, Manukau
City Centre.
From 11am to 4pm families can enjoy a huge range of fun activities, including free rides, games and challenges, and
musical performances.
Mayor Sir Barry Curtis says that Children’s Day, which is held on the last Sunday in October each year, is about
celebrating children and encouraging adults to give their time to them.
“The key message is for parents, caregivers and communities to '’give time’ to our young, as well as love and affection,
praise and encouragement, listen and talk to them, and provide them with new experiences.
“We want families to spend the day together, whether it’s at this event or just at home. Bring along a picnic and make
the most of all the free, fun activities on offer.”
Families can get involved in activities such as tug o war, sack races, balloon games, and mini relay races.
The free amusement rides include bouncy castles, a ghost train, tea cups and slides. Also on site will be food stalls,
horse and carriage rides, and local healthcare providers with information stalls. Entertainment on stage ranges from
cultural performances, items from local young talent, performances from Dawn Raid artists.
Council held a similar event at Hayman Park last year which was highly successful.
