Waikato Water Issue
Manukau Councillors vote down best water first policy at committee meeting Tuesday 11th June.
CAP has helped to organise opposition to Waikato water being used as a primary source throughout the Auckland region.
Meredydd Barrar spokesperson says "we have helped to successfully lobby at Waitakere, Rodney, North Shore and Papakura".
"With the exception of Councillors Fred Anderson and Colleen Brown, Manukau City Councillors have capitulated under pressure from Watercare. They really pulled out their big guns at the committee meeting bringing out their so called American expert who of course is on the payroll of Watercare".
CAP says "These Councillors are weak and like Watercare are putting commercial interests over the community's health. People should turn up in force art the next full Council meeting (5pm Thurs June 27th) and demand a best water first policy. Only the best water source will do for Manukau and the whole of Auckland and Waikato Water definitely isn't it.
