New Board Member for Infrastructure Auckand
The Infrastructure Auckland Electoral College has appointed Mr Richard Waddel to the Board of Infrastructure Auckland.
The appointment is effective 1 July 2002.
Mr Waddel will be filling the position left by Hugh Fletcher who chose not to seek re-appointment after serving on the
Board since its inception in October 1998.
Sir Barry Curtis, Chairman of the Infrastructure Auckland Electoral College, said, “The appointment of Richard Waddel
brings additional financial and business skills to complement the already diverse skill set on the Board”. He has
previously been Managing Partner and Chief Executive of Ernst and Young and Chair of the Auckland District Health Board
and is currently Chair of Pharmac.
The Electoral College also re-appointed John Robertson as a member for a further three years and as Chairman of the
Board for a further 12 months. Sir Barry says he has provided sound leadership and has unanimous support within the
current Board.
In marking the departure of Hugh Fletcher, Sir Barry said thanked him for the valuable service provided during the
critically important formative years of Infrastructure Auckland.
The 5 remaining members of the Board are Richard Didsbury, Dr Jocelyn Jesson, Dr Tony Lanigan, John Maasland and Gary
Taylor, who have varying terms of office in line with a legislative requirement for a rotating system of appointments.
Sir Barry said, “Infrastructure Auckland continues to perform a very important role in helping to fund transport and
major stormwater infrastructure within urban and rural Auckland. The continued wise stewardship of the resources
available to Infrastructure Auckland will ensure the progressive implementation of the Auckland Regional Land Transport
Strategy and the Passenger Transport Action Plan”.
