Manukau City Council management team wins against Australian counterparts
A team from Manukau City Council has won the Australasian Local Government Management Challenge.
Competing in Sydney in the final, the Manukau City Council team, invited as winners of the recent New Zealand Local Government Management challenge, took on the winning Australian state teams in a series of management challenges. Competing in unfamiliar territory against seven teams with the home advantage, the Manukau team came through with flying colours and is bringing the trophy home.
“This merely supports what I have always thought that we have some of the best staff in the country” said Colin Dale, Manukau City Council Chief Executive. “To win in New Zealand is one thing but then to go on and win in Australia displays the calibre of staff serving the people of Manukau”.
“With the increasing challenges the Council faces every year due to Manukau's constant growth, it is pleasing to see we have the people on board to provide the best possible advice to our Council and service to our residents.
"After winning the New Zealand competition last year and placing third in the Australian final it is pleasing to see the team come home with the trophy this year” said Colin Dale. “There will be no resting on our laurels as the expertise they displayed will be put to good use in meeting the challenges we face in the future."
