With fine weather and light winds forecast for the second day running, targeted aerial spraying against the painted apple moth will start at first light this morning.
So far Traherne Island and some small pockets of land adjacent to the northwestern motorway, the residential areas of Te Atatu South and Glendene and Waikumete Cemetery have been completed.
The plan this morning is to target the remaining residential areas and Avondale Peninsula. If this is achieved, the third operation of targeted aerial spraying will be completed today. This plan could change if sea breezes increase because the area is exposed.
The aerial spraying target zone includes about 3,000 west Auckland residential and industrial properties.
