Pedal power to rule the day in Aotea Square
Hundreds of cyclists are expected for a free breakfast in Aotea Square later this month.
Auckland City Council is promoting the “bike to work” day on February 20 to encourage commuters to break from their old
routines and be kind to the environment.
It’s the fifth time the annual event has been held and last year attracted nearly 400 cyclists. The day is aimed at
promoting cycling as an alternative to the car and is part of Bike Wise National Bike Week with festivities happening
all week.
Every participating cyclist receives a free breakfast from 6am to 9am and has the chance to win one of a number of spot
prizes, which range from T-shirts to bikes. There will be stalls with information on cycle ways and off-road routes in
Auckland. Adventure Cycles will be on hand check bikes for safety.
