Sir Peter Blake Memorial Service
Auckland City Council is working closely with the Prime Minister’s office and Department of Internal Affairs to help
arrange a memorial service for the late Sir Peter Blake.
No date has yet been set and it is expected that arrangements will not be finalised until next week.
Mayor John Banks says he is maintaining contact with Prime Ministerial and Internal Affairs representatives.
“I have offered them every co-operation and assistance that the council can offer,” Mr Banks said. “We will do whatever
we can in our efforts to honour Sir Peter in an appropriate manner which respects the wishes of his family.”
Mr Banks says the family will decide what form the service will take and where and when it will be held. “Decisions are
very much in their hands,” he said. “We will determine their wishes after the funeral has been held in Great Britain.
Our task will then be to carry those wishes out.”
Meanwhile, a book of condolences is available for people to write in at the concierge desk on the ground floor of the
Civic Building, 1 Greys Avenue, Auckland City. The book is available from 7.30am to 5pm on weekdays until Friday
December 21, after which it will be sent to Sir Peter’s family.
