Mayor Welcomes Business To Square
Christchurch’s Mayor Garry Moore was an early customer of a new coffee shop in Cathedral Square today.
While in the Square for his weekly noon Chat to citizens, he visited the shop that opened today in the former Post Office building.
He said he welcomed the opening of the shop as it marked another step in the rejuvenation of the Square and revitalisation of the central city.
Mr. Moore said he was pleased with negotiations with the company and the Heritage Trust over the use of the old building which had not been used for about eight years.
“This type of development will enliven the area and I hope it will lead to more around the perimeter of the Square,” he said.
“This is one key in the wider concept to revitalise the central city.”
