Annual Plan supports long term goals
Auckland City has published its Annual Plan for 2001/02.
The plan sets out the Council’s priorities for the year and documents its planned expenditure. The Council approved the
plan after considering more than over 1,900 submissions received during four weeks of public consultation.
The plan also details the Council’s ‘big ticket’ items for the coming year, including a 2.9 per cent general rates
increase, a $66 million contribution to the Britomart downtown transport centre and support for a maximum of $50 million
in funding for an indoor arena at Quay Park.
Chairperson of the Council’s Finance and Property Committee, Councillor Kay McKelvie, says the Annual Plan strikes a
good balance between short-term improvements and long term goals.
“Ensuring that our city has appropriate facilities takes time and careful financial management and I am pleased that
this year’s Annual Plan continues to improve the city’s basic infrastructure.
“At the same time, we have been able to pursue some of our strategic goals, such as improving the city’s transport
network and making progress on a much needed indoor arena,“ she says.
