Nominations are wanted for Christchurch City Council Civic Awards for people and organisations that produce good deeds
in the city.
The council has presented the awards annually for the past 12 years.
The Council’s organiser of the awards, Dave Adamson, says they recognise the good works of the “unsung heroes” of the
city.
“If it were not for many people and organisations that work voluntarily and selfishly, our society would almost grind to
a halt,” he said.
The categories of awards are recreation, youth activities, social welfare, educational services, cultural affairs,
religious affairs, and community affairs.
Also, any other voluntary services that “contribute to furthering the vision of Christchurch” can be nominated.
Individuals, societies or clubs and such like can be nominated.
Nominations will close on 10 August.
Award winners receive a framed certificate and a boxed medallion from the Mayor.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the Civic Offices in Tuam Street, Council service centres and libraries.
