Experts In City For Bush Fire Conferences

Up to 80 overseas delegates will attend a joint conference in Christchurch concerned with bush fires and fire safety.
The joint conference will run from Wednesday 4 July to Thursday 5 July at The Grand Chancellor Hotel.
Christchurch’s Mayor Garry Moore will give a welcome to delegates on Wednesday 4 July at 1.05pm and the Minister of Internal Affairs, George Hawkins, will officially open the conference at 1.15pm.
Bushfire 2001 will continue the biennial Australian Bushfire Conference series and will be held in New Zealand for the first time.
The purpose of the Bushfire conference is to provide a forum for members of the Australasian fire community, both researchers and managers, to present and review the latest advances and concepts in bushfire-related sciences.
In conjunction with the Bushfire conference will be 11th annual conference of the Forest and Rural Fire Association of NZ. This conference will continue the fire safety emphasis of recent FRFANZ conferences.
Guest speakers will include experts from Australia and the United States.
