It’s winter and the school holidays are nearly here. What is there to do? Get your kids active and outdoors with
Council’s Manukau on the Move team.
Manukau on the Move’s highly popular holiday programme for kids aged 5 to 16 includes a huge range of fun and affordable
activities.
The first week of the holidays (2-6 July) is designed specially for the 5 to 13 year olds. Arts, crafts, sports, games,
outdoor activities, face painting, gymnastics, kite making, crab soccer, fishing, and a bouncy castle are some of the
fun things on offer at the Beachlands and Maraetai Halls.
Day themes include, ‘Clowning Around’, ‘Strange Sports’, ‘Party Time’, ‘Camping Capers’, and a day trip to MOTAT. All at
a minimal cost of $12 per day or $30 for the day trip.
Week two of the holidays (9-13 July) is a must for your 12-16 year olds. The Teen Extreme Programme takes teenagers
mountain biking at Woodhill Forest, indoor climbing, abseiling at Mt Eden quarry, kayaking the Puhoi river, surviving
the Survivor Day (like the television show) and caving. Only $35 per day or $150 for the whole week.
Programme co-ordinator, Judith Harris, says “The programme will suit enthusiastic teenagers who are keen to take up the
challenge of the many outdoor activities we’ve got planned. Just because it’s winter, it doesn’t mean staying inside
watching television or playing computer games is the only activity available for your kids.“
The Manukau on the Move team provides all the specialist equipment and qualified instruction is provided. Interested
kids and parents should phone 275 8399 for more information and registration details.
