Council Management Team’s Success In Australasian Competition
A team from Manukau City Council has come third in an Australasian local government management competition in Brisbane, after having won the New Zealand leg of the Challenge against teams from 17 other councils.
There were only four points separating the top three teams at the end of the one-day 2001 Local Government Managers Australia Management Challenge.
The teams had to work on a series of demanding management projects over very tight timeframes.
On the Manukau team were Nick Williamson, Chris Szekely, Sarah Boswell, Duncan Enoka, Yvette Bell and Andrew Maddock.
They had earlier beaten teams from around New Zealand to gain entry to the Challenge against Australian state teams.
City Manager Colin Dale said he was delighted at their performance.
“It was a tremendous achievement and the whole Council is very proud of their efforts. I was greatly impressed with their team spirit, commitment and professional approach.
“Their success reflects on the high calibre of our staff and on the diverse range of skills they have.”
