Graffiti art workshops for youth and the painting of a large mural will feature at a special day for Waltham youth on Saturday.
Professional aerosol artist Jonny Wartmann, who is working with the Christchurch City Council legal arts project, will created an aerosol art piece on the Waltham Youth Trust Drop In Centre wall at the corner of Hastings Street and Waltham Road.
This will be held on Saturday 17 February from 10am to 4pm. If wet, the event will be held the following Saturday.
Besides the creation of the mural, a community day will be held with a barbecue, live music, skateboarding and other activities.
Jonny Wartmann will also offer graffiti art workshops, encouraging youth towards graffiti art and not tagging.
The wall to be used by Jonny Wartmann is at the Ground Zero Drop in Centre, run by the Waltham Youth Trust. The centre, open each Friday from 6.30-11pm, provides a safe, stimulating and supervised environment for young people of Waltham.
