Aucklanders are invited to join in “all the fun of the fair” at the Auckland Regional Council’s 11th annual Omana Children’s Day on Sunday 11 February.
Held at Omana Regional Park, near Maraetai, from 10am to 3pm, the day promises to be a lively mix of rural and fair activities.
“Admission is free and children will be able to enjoy everything from puppet shows and face painting to Black Watch Clydesdale wagon rides and a hay bale maze,” ARC Parks and Recreation Chairman Bill Burrill says.
“There will be tractor trailer rides, sheep shearing, pony rides, the German Shepherd Pet Care Display team, kite flying, Westpac Trust Art in the Park and plenty of live family entertainment.”
There will be farm and pet animals to meet and the park has plenty of open spaces for picnics and games, beaches for swimming and tidal pools to explore.
“I invite families from all over the Auckland region to join my family and I at what is always a fantastic fun day out in a picturesque setting on the shores of the Hauraki Gulf,” Cr Burrill says.
To reach Omana Regional Park by car, visitors should take the East Tamaki off ramp from the Southern motorway and follow East Tamaki Rd through Otara to Ormiston Rd. Follow the signs to Whitford. Omana Regional Park is on the Whitford – Maraetai Rd 12km beyond Whitford.
