Elves On Hand To Help Shopping

Published: Thu 7 Dec 2000 11:17 AM
Six helpers, dressed as elves, will be on duty this weekend in the centre of Christchurch to provide guidance for Christmas shoppers.
The six will be on hand to direct shoppers to shops and even help with present suggestions if need be. They will be armed with maps of the city centre and a list a retailers.
They will start work this coming Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. They will be on duty again the following weekend and on the last five shopping days before Christmas.
The Christchurch City Council has erected its Christmas decorations, with new ones this year in Oxford Terrace and an especially spectacular display on the overbridge from Ballantynes to The Crossing.
