To celebrate Canterbury's 150th Anniversary, Christchurch City Libraries has organised an exciting programme of events.
It will start with the chance to meet Richard Greenaway, author of Rich man, poor man, environmentalist, thief, a
historical book published by the library to mark the anniversary. The lives of eight Christchurch personalities who
helped shape our city but have been largely forgotten are portrayed in remarkable detail.
Richard Greenaway, Genealogy Librarian at Christchurch City Libraries, considers them to be almost like "old friends".
The publication of Rich man, poor man, environmentalist, thief is the culmination of extensive research and offers some
fascinating insight into the lives of people like 'Ice-cream' Charlie and river dweller George Vennell.
Richard Greenaway will talk about his book at:
* Shirley Library, Tuesday 5 December 10 - 11am
* New Brighton Library, Thursday 7 December 11am - 12 noon.
