Published: Tue 14 Nov 2000 04:08 PM
For all Manukau’s action heroes and their sons, Manukau on the Move are holding a Father and Sons Big Day out – Kayaking at Sunkist Bay Maraetai on 18 November.
Manukau City Council Leisure Service staff wish to capitalise on a very successful evening held recently at Manukau Libraries to encourage fathers and sons to spend more time pursuing leisure activities together.
In order to make this event possible special arrangements have been made to source additional numbers of double kayaks.
Solomon Kiri, Recreational Programmer for Manukau on the Move says, “This is a great opportunity for a family day out, utilising the in-shore coastal environment. Safety is always uppermost in our minds and professional trained staff will be leading the ‘paddle’ to ensure adequate supervision and safety precaution are in place.
“Come along and take advantage of our Big Day Out - paddle with Manukau on the Move staff from Sunkist Bay to Maraetai, all equipment provided and enjoy a barbecue lunch.”
This event is part of the Manukau City Council Leisure Services Outreach Programme and children as young as 5 years can participate - dads, uncles, grandfathers, guardians are all welcome.
Pick up is from the Allan Brewster Centre Car Park at 7.30 am or on-site at Beachlands Hall 8am.
