Part Closure Of Summit Road
As trees have to be removed from the Summit Road between the Sign of the Kiwi and Victoria Park lookout, the road will be closed between 9am and 4pm on three days next week.
The Christchurch City Council's area parks officer, Rod Whearty, says trees must be removed. The trees are either over tracks or threatening to fall on to the road as a result of the 12 October storm. The road will be closed from Tuesday 14 December to Thursday 16 December between 9am and 4pm. Mr Whearty says staff will be positioned at the Mount Pleasant Road-Summit Intersection advising motorists that they will be able to go as far as the Victoria Park lookout only. Signs will be placed elsewhere. Tour buses use the route and, where possible, companies are being advised.
