Don’t Lose Your Load

Published: Tue 7 Nov 2000 12:56 AM
In an initiative to help to clear Christchurch roads clear of rubbish, the Keep Christchurch Beautiful Campaign is selling covers for trailers at $10 each.
Its slogan to city motorists is: Don’t lose your load along the road.
The covers are made with lightweight, orange netting and can be obtained from any Christchurch City Council Service Centre, except Beckenham, and also at the Civic Offices in Tuam Street.
Keep Christchurch Beautiful co-ordinator Ingrid Le Fevre says the covers will help reduce the litter in city streets. At present too much rubbish is dropped along the roads before it reaches the refuse transfer stations, she says.
Littering in Christchurch can bring an instant fine of $100.
