City's Newest Parking Building To Open

Published: Thu 12 Oct 2000 11:08 AM
Christchurch City Council's latest parking building, which will provide 207 spaces in Lichfield Street, will open on Monday 16 October.
The parking building is on top of the new $19 million Bus Xchange, which will connect with the new retail centre, The Crossing. This will provide a link direct to city-centre shops. Entry to the parking building and exiting will be from Lichfield Street. The two-level car park will be open about month before the Bus Xchange will open for business. It is designed for short-term parking. Height restrictions are greater than in other city parking buildings so, for instance, four-wheel drive vehicles will be able to use the building. The first working day at the Bus Xchange will be 20 November and it will be preceded by a week of special events.
