Christchurch City Libraries’ new service, Mission Possible, which helps high-school students crack their assignments, is
proving to be a big hit.
Run by some of the library’s younger staff members, Mission Possible aims to get students started on their assignments
by showing them the different print and electronic resources available.
“We have received a very enthusiastic response to the service,” said Reference Librarian Fiona Allison. “The topics
covered so far have ranged far and wide including sports coaching, eating disorders, family history, plant
identification, the Crewe murders and much more.”
Reaction from students has been very positive. Many had already reached dead ends in their hunt for information, but
found heaps of untapped sources through Mission Possible. “They are also pleased to discover that the service is free,”
Fiona said.
Mission Possible sessions are offered every Saturday and after school Tuesday to Friday at the Central City Library.
They are designed for high school students in years 9-13 and can be booked by phoning the library on 379 6914.
