New Panmure Community Plan Unveiled
The next stage in the consultative process for the proposed Panmure Liveable Community Plan is about to get underway,
with displays and open days scheduled throughout September.
Already, focus groups, drop-in days, telephone surveys and technical design workshops have been held to canvass opinion
on how best to plan for urban growth in the Panmure area.
Now, Auckland City has prepared a draft plan which it is seeking comment on. A comprehensive Liveable Community display
will be available for viewing at the Mt Wellington (Panmure) library from Monday 11 September until 6 October.
In addition, open days will be held on Monday 11 September (10am to 5pm), Saturday 16 September (10am to 2pm) and
Thursday 21 September (2pm to 7pm).
During the open days the proposed plan will be available for viewing and Council staff will be on-hand to discuss its
impact on the area’s residents.
The plan contains recommendations for the Panmure Town Centre, housing, passenger transport and roading, walking and
cycling routes, community facilities and open spaces.
It is part of Auckland City’s plan to manage population growth in the City over the next 50 years. Liveable Community
Plans for such areas as Panmure are part of this wider approach to dealing with the expected growth.
The Panmure community has provided ideas about critical issues and future possibilities for the area’s development.
These ideas suggested key issues which have resulted in the development of a set of recommended actions or goals. The
Liveable Community Plan acts as a guide to achieving these goals by ensuring there is an action programme of work and an
ongoing budget to support it.
In addition to the library display and open days, copies of the plan are on view at the Mt Wellington, Glen Innes and
Auckland Central libraries, Auckland City’s offices in Greys Ave or Graham Street, Auckland central, and the Citizens
Advice Bureau at the Panmure Community Centre in Pilkington Rd.
