Auckland Police have arrested a man for the murder of Kylie Jones who was found dead in the Eastview Reserve in Glen Innes late on Tuesday June 6.
The man, a 29-year old unemployed Glen Innes resident, was arrested this evening after a massive manhunt in the east Auckland suburb.
The man will appear in the Auckland District Court on Monday.
Officer in charge of Operation Eastview, Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Allsopp-Smith said he was pleased with today's result, but there was still a lot more work to do.
"In many ways, the work has just begun," he said. "We're still anxious to hear from anyone who saw Kylie in the time since she left work on Tuesday June 6, at about 5.30pm."
"We particularly want to hear from the 21 passengers who travelled on either of the 625 buses that left the Downtown bus terminal at 5.20pm or 5.35pm on the night Kylie was killed. We believe Kylie travelled on one of those buses and arrived in Glen Innes between 6.05 and 6.10pm on Tuesday."
"We've had tremendous help from the media and the public to date and only hope people continue to call us with information about Kylie's movements or those of any suspicious people around Glen Innes on June the 6th."
"The inquiry team's heartfelt sympathies go out to Kylie's family and friends at this most disturbing time."
