America's Cup Village Release
The question asked most of the Amex Cup Village is " who is still around"? What they really mean is, are any of the
yachting rockstars still around and the news is all good yes they are.
The reason being is that the Steinlager Cup gets underway in Auckland from the 19th to the 25th of March and this is the
first event on the Swedish Match Grand Prix calendar.
Entrants include Dean Barker from Team New Zealand, Gavin Brady from AmericaOne, James Spithill from Young Australia,
Bertrand Pace from Le Defi (French syndicate), Peter Holmberg from Stars & Stripes, and Peter Gilmour from Nippon.
Again New Zealand can look forward to some great international television coverage with 30 hours of host broadcast
television coverage and the Swedish Match Grand Prix Sailing Tour will distribute eight, half hour programs worldwide.

On their way to the AMEX Cup Village are several yachts from the Millennium Round the World yacht race that left Britain
last year. They are due to arrive next week either on the 21st or 22nd of March and due to the fleet being hit by two
cyclones on the way to Tonga they say what they need when they arrive in Auckland is lots of TLC. Seven crewmembers on
the various yachts were injured during the cyclones. They are due to leave Auckland on March 29th. Two journalists are
accompanying the fleet so again New Zealand can look forward to some bonus media coverage.
