AMEX Cup Village reaches visitor target 5 weeks early
The American Express New Zealand Cup Village last year set a visitor target number of 3.3 million to be reached by the 31st of March. With 5 weeks still to go, the number already is 3,445.907.
The visitor numbers skyrocketed over the last few days, with record crowds flocking into the area to enjoy all the activities and soak up the atmosphere.
Last week 293,993 visitors were recorded. The final tally for the weekend was 138,923, with this working out at about 7200 people an hour.
AMEX Cup Village staff have nothing but praise for the way people behaved despite the intense heat and the large numbers of people around.
PR Manager Sue Foley says: ”It is a tribute to everyone that even with facilities heavily in demand where there was often long queues everyone was more than happy to wait their turn and were considerate to others”.
With so many overseas guests around it must be leaving them with a great impression of how successful New Zealanders are at staging a major international event.
