People who can't make it to the American Express New Zealand Cup Village in person, are still staying in the action using the internet (www.nzcupvillage.co.nz). During the first week of January alone, this website had 50 thousand hits.
The Big Yellow cabs are the most popular thing on water! Watertours yellow water taxi's give people a unique on-the-water view of what exists in the AMEX Cup Village. There movements are not just restricted to the Village but they are more than happy to take you wherever you want to go on the water. It's not an unusual sight to even see them out by the racecourse in the Gulf.
If you want to join in the most popular activity, in town head down to the AMEX Cup Village around 4pm on a race day. As the race boats return to their bases the crowds give all teams a true Kiwi cheer. While the semi finals are all but over the Louis Vuitton final starts on January 25th.
The Village TV Channel is well and truly up-and-running and already the team involved have some great footage of everything - from superyachts to food reviews. Check it out on the big screen or the various TV monitors located around the AMEX Cup Village.
The superyachts continue to prove a major attraction. The word is our more upmarket visitors love New Zealand with many indicating they are keen to return. The most unusual request so far of a superyacht is for a blow up palm tree. Yes - one was found, but no one has been game enough to ask what it was going to be used for.
